Seems fine - Hendrik, 5 May 2025
Used the disk near continuously in a USB-toaster for a data recovery task. During this, filled the disk 100% (BTRFS) - no bad sector complaints in dmesg.
Still busy pulling data off (to a NAS) currently. Performance seems adequate.
Eventually the disk will live in an oDroid HC4-p enclosure - I have some minor concerns about vibration, but I'll only find out if that is problem after months of operation there - so can't speak to that yet.
Side note: I have zero idea what all this "AI" marketing hype is about. It is a hard drive. It works like a hard drive. It is (at time of writing) one of the better options in terms of Cost / Gb. it is CMR (not SMR) tech as far as Seagate can be believed.
The "video steaming" SATA command that I understand it supports might be useful for CCTV /IPCam systems that exploit that feature.
