Fast, BUT it runs HOT!
I had to install it into a heatsink and it runs hot even with light usage. Idle temps was around 48c-52c with ambient temp of around 20c. I didn't need to do much until I get an alarm as it would go into the 60s and peaked at 70c before throttling. These companies/manufacturers really need to state the operating recommended temps and indicate if a heatsink is recommended. I have a big case with adequate airflow and the drive sits far below the GPU. Just because of the temps and the hassle of getting the temps down with wasting money it loses 2 stars. Further VERY important to note is that the dram and controller chip is lower than the memory modules. I guarantee that if you use 1mm thermal pads you will have high temps. The 2nd heatsink I purchased came with 1.5mm thermal pads and I purchased 1mm thermal grizzly pads. 1.5mm cut to fit the dram and controller. Another dram module is on the underside. 1mm on each of the 2 memory modules both sides. I have idle temps now at 40-42c and usage goes up with about 5-6c. A stress test it goes to 51c @ 18c room ambient. I would say still toasty but far better as the previous temps recorded was with another heatsink installed but only 1mm thermal pads used. You don't want this drive to go past 60c.
