Good budget 1700 mobo
Great value for the price and entry into the 1700 socket. Came with the plastic push-in M.2 stand-off for those wondering. No Type-C header so I do have a dead port on the front but otherwise I'm happy

Everything you need, nothing you don't
Having previously owned several Gigabyte boards that always start giving weird issues after a while (like needing a CMOS reset after being in sleep), I can't wait to see how the Asus will perform. The BIOS options are very diverse and detailed, but I can't confirm overclocking potential. The board itself looks quite nice, with a black PCB and white stripes pointing towards the CPU. Be sure to buy as much RAM as you'll need in four years, because having only two slots limits upgrade potential. I noticed no significant performance difference between XMP1 and XMP2, which must mean that the board sets the timings quite well under XMP1. If you're a SLI / Crossfire guy, this board can't help you either. But having two M.2 slots is very nice indeed. Make sure you update to the latest BIOS version, because after updating, the write speed on my Mushkin Tempest jumped from 250 MB/s to 1200 MB/s. I assume it has something to do with Host Memory Buffer because it's a DRAM-less SSD. Asus includes some desktop software, but it doesn't really do much. Still, extremely happy overall. Does what it says on the box.
